Hi, friends/cousins! Welcome to my page.

My name is Jorney (she/her), and I am hanis, Coos, and am an enrolled Tribal Member of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Tribes in Oregon. I graduated with a BA in Public Relations and Family Human Services in 2023 from the University of Oregon (UO), and I am now currently in the Couples and Family Therapy Masters program at the UO!

( SKO DUCKS! )

I am shaping my career by exploring the intricate relationships between Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and their impacts on the mental health of diverse individuals in corporate organizations, higher education institutions, and the media landscape.

My approach involves applying my understanding of ecological frameworks to establish emotional connections with surrounding communities, actively engaging with and building trust in my relationships. I am deeply passionate about understanding the broad influences of DEI on organizations, encompassing economic, business, and personal dimensions, and the vital role of nurturing these relationships.

On this page, you will see some of my research alongside my blog where I explore the complexities of community and connection and their significance to me as an Indigenous woman in a world that often does not serve my community or me.

Through this research, my goal is to help others engage with this critical topic, raise organizational awareness about the profound impact of PR on individuals’ mental health, highlight the importance of authentic representation in the media, and share my own experiences along the way.

Feel free to leave your feelings about what you read in the comments, and please share your stories with me if anything comes to mind throughout our journey together!

luwwi,

Jorney
